I almost entitled this post “The Real Slim Shady,” but decided that maybe not everyone loved that song as much as I did back when that song was cool (or coolish). But there are a few tunes from each decade that, for one reason or another, seem to stick in my brain whether I like it or not – “Slim Shady” is one of those songs (it’s filed in my memories right next to “Ice Ice Baby” and “Baby Got Back” – don’t judge me!).
Whatever we call it, this post makes me smile because it’s the real, true picture of me signing my agent contract exactly two weeks ago at my hotel room desk in LA. It’s quite possible that I was squealing while this picture was being taken. It’s also probable that I danced around the room spinning, twirling and bustin’ out the running man (oh yeah!) before I tra-la-la-ed down to the front desk where I might have said, “Excuse me, Sir. Would you mind terribly putting my AGENT CONTRACT in the outgoing mail? Thank you ever so much.” before skipping away to rejoin my author/illustrator friends at the SCBWI conference – where I may or may not have geeked out over sitting behind Thalia Chaltas (author of BECAUSE I AM FURNITURE – one my favorite YA novels written in verse – seriously, folks, I read that entire book in less than 24 hours – it was that good). Phew…that sentence just wore me out!
So here it is. I hope it makes you smile. 🙂
