I’ve got no big news on the book front. My agent and writer friends tell me these things take time, and I shouldn’t hold my breath for any big news before the new year. Apparently wishing for something at 11:11 every night is not a guarantee to wish fulfillment – the child inside me is heartbroken. With all the Christmas preparations that come with 3 kids, I’ve been WAY too busy to write anything profound or inspirational as a blog post, so my goal with this one is just to make ya’ smile. Luckily, my kids give me lots of material for comedy. So prepare yourself for a solid grin or two!
My son recently discovered the power of facial hair. After winning his basketball game the morning after his 10th birthday sleepover with a mustache, goatee and uni-brow drawn on his face in black marker, Logan decided this look was his good luck charm. Yes, he did this to himself for the following game. Unfortunately, it didn’t have the same lucky-charm effect.
My older daughter spent a lot of time the last couple months rehearsing for the Twin Cities Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker. She was, in my opinion, the cutest snow angel EVER!
My youngest has decided she would like to be a doctor when she grows up. She’s already showing signs of being a genius. You should hear her recite her ABCs (ok, there might be a little M-N-F-L-P action in there, but she’s ONLY 2), and count to eleven-teen (whatever, it should be a number and it’s totally adorable). Indian Jones (our dog, not the action hero played by Harrison Ford) was her first patient.
So I’ve got a 10-year-old with facial hair, a 7-year-old air guitar playing snow angel, and a 2-year-old doctor-in-training who’s surgical tool of choice is a pizza cutter. They’re crazy (in an adorable, non-committable kind of way)! They’re also the reason I haven’t had more than 4 consecutive hours of sleep in the last 10 years (I’m only exaggerating a little bit).
I hope your holiday season has been filled with as much joy and chaos as mine has been! Now, you probably won’t hear from me until next year…don’t worry, it’s only a few days away! Until then, cheers! And despite what I said about 11:11 wishes, I hope you’ll keep makin’ them! I know I will!!
